World Health Day observed across state

World Health Day (WHD) was observed across the state on April 7, to create awareness on the importance of maintaining a healthy life on the theme, “building fairer, healthier world.”

Unity College: NSS/RRC cell of Unity College, Dimapur organised a programme to commemorate “WHD under the theme “building a fairer, healthier world” on April 7.

A press release by NSS/RRC cell Unity College stated that, district AIDS prevention control unit (DAPCU) supervisor, Orenthung Ngullie spoke on HIV and AIDS as a major issue affecting the global population and explained the causes and symptoms of the deadly virus. He encouraged the younger generation to equip themselves with proper knowledge on HIV and AIDS and also presented a district wise data of detected cases. 

Meanwhile, department of history, assistant professor Thungbeni Humtsoe in her introductory note stressed on the main objective of the programme to meet today’s challenges on awareness, preventive measures and sensitised the younger generations’ prone to HIV and AIDS.

Earlier, BA IV semester, Kewithunbo Nchang chaired the programme and Mercy Rengma pronounced the vote of thanks. 60 students along with 10 faculty members attended the programme.

ADRA India: Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) India celebrated WHD with the children of Bright Morning Star Children Home at Kohima on April 7, 2021.

A press release by ADRA Nagaland office stated that the event started with a brief introduction of ADRA India and the ongoing TBBT project in Nagaland followed by a short nature trail walk with the children to promote a healthier way of living.

During the event, a brief message on the theme was delivered by ADRA Nagaland team and creative session and experiential learning activities based on the theme were also conducted. 

It may be mentioned that the event initiated and conducted as part of the “birds and bees talk” programme under Durex powered byADRA India aims to spread awareness and focus on adolescent health in the state and intends to reach two million children across six North-eastern states. The event was held following COVID-19 SOPs wherein masks and sanitisers were distributed to all participants and concluded with distribution of participation certificates.
