Nagaland Post

Police refute social media post

Following a social media post that IRB personnel had resolved to refrain from duty with total arms down from April 25 alleging that they were not paid travelling allowance (TA) for election duty in West Bengal, a senior police officer of the PHQ refuted the allegation and clarified that they had received the TA from the government and would be disbursing soon.

The police officer also claimed that the TA for IRB personnel, who were deployed for election duty in Assam initially, too had been paid.

On the last day of polls in Assam, he said Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered redeployment to West Bengal, which required new sanction from the government. “So a few days’ delay was there. Now the sanction has come and that they will be paid as soon as they return to Nagaland,” the official stated.

The official said that the post appeared in a private social media group. “Investigation is on as to find out how an individual made up this story that demoralised the IRB personnel on duty,” the official added.

Asserting that the Nagaland Police IRB personnel were performing their duties in an outstanding manner, he said that such malicious stories tarnish their reputation and image in the eyes of the public. “We will get to the bottom of this and take action as per the law,” the police officer assured.
