
Dakshata training for medical personnel under Kiphire district was conducted in a phase-wise manner from April 19 to 24 at district hospital, Kiphire. The workshop was funded by NEC and REC through district administration and CMO office, Kiphire.
A press release by CMO Kiphire district media officer, Haichikambe Pame 35 medical personnel, comprising of medical officers and nurses were trained under Dakshata in a period of six days.
The training focused upon improving care for mothers and newborns with an aim to reduce maternal and child mortality during childbirth and to provide quality service during delivery.
During the training, mannequins and dummies were used to demonstrate normal delivery, essential newborn care, and new-born resuscitation.
Resource persons senior specialist (OBG) from IMDH Mokokchung, Dr. Supongmeren and senior consultant UNICEF, Dr. Longri Kichu provided the training to the healthcare workers.
The training was imparted to medical officers, community health officers, and nurses in two batches with the first batch from April 19 to 21 and the second batch from April 22 to 24.
It may be mentioned that Dakshata training is a technical update-cum-skills standardisation training to improve care and survival of mothers and new-borns through hands on training with the latest clinical updates.
The training was carried out under strict COVID-19 SOPs and after prior testing. The training also deliberated on COVID-19 control and improving indicators for the aspirational district.
