Yimchunger GBs Association (YGBA) has extended its support to the 14-day deadline served by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Shamator town on non-availability of adequate manpower at Shamator Community Health Centre (CHC).
In a press release, YGBA president Lakiumong stated that despite its upgrade since 2014, many staff were either transferred without reliever or got attached elsewhere. YGBA said that “many posts were lying vacant on ground of death and those vacant posts are yet to be filled up”.
While informing that “Shamator town has a total of 12 COVID-19 positive cases (as of today)”, YGBA said that the authority had not provided enough emergency safety measures and required facilities to contain the spread of the virus. It said that the primary contract tracing measures for those detected on May 14 were also yet to be undertaken for identification and testing.
In this, YGBA said that lives of the entire sub-division were exposed to the virus.
As appealed by the CSOs of Shamator town, YGBA therefore requested the competent authority to immediately deploy required manpower and facilities that should have been made available at CHC Shamator within the timeframe set by CSOs.
