
State chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also the chairman Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), chaired a monsoon preparedness meeting, which was held through video conference at CM’s Secretariat, Kohima on Wednesday.
According to an official bulletin, the chief minister, in his opening remark, highlighted the importance of being prepared to face the monsoon months from June to September 2021. He said that being well prepared would avert any major disaster during erratic monsoon season besides saving the lives and infrastructure like roads and buildings.
At the meeting, NSDMA gave briefing on the monsoon based on the metrological data; PWD (R&B) on monsoon preparedness of roads major sector; HG&CD/SRDF on emergency operation and response preparedness; the health & family welfare (H&FW) department presented monsoon preparedness measures in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic; monsoon preparedness and availability of essential commodities was highlighted by food & civil supplies department. The meeting was followed by interaction and feedback from the deputy commissioners and chairman DDMA of all the districts. The meeting was attended by ministers, AHoDs, HoDs of the line departments and DCs & chairman DDMA.
