State Covid caseload breaches 25k mark; 6 deaths

Nagaland’s cumulative Covid caseload breached the 25,000 mark after 56 fresh cases were registered on Monday while the death toll also neared the 500-mark after six more patients succumbed to the infection.

According to the Health department bulletin, Kohima reported 25 cases, Dimapur-17, seven in Mokokchung, six in Peren and one in Kiphire, taking the total caseload to 25017.

Further, two patients each in Dimapur and Kohima succumbed to the infection and one each in Kohima and Peren, pushing the death toll to 493 (including 14 non-Covid deaths but with Covid positivity).

PTI: India logged 46,148 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,02,79,331, while daily fatalities were recorded below 1000, taking the death toll to 3,96,730, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The country registered 979 fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 in a day, the lowest in 76 days. The active cases declined to 5,72,994 comprising 1.89% of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.80%, the ministry said.
