Enforcement drive on sale of tobacco

For the effective implementation of COTPA 2003, an enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions was carried out under National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) on at Mon town on July 22.

According to a DIPR report, the team members included representatives from district administration, excise department, police department and Konyak Student Union (KSU) Mon.

The team was led by district nodal officer, NTCP Mon, Dr. I. Simon Sumi and district consultant, NTCP Mon, Nyeamying Konyak. 

Altogether, 29 shops around the educational institutions under Mon town were penalised. The team destroyed the seized items at the dumping area.
