Exporters Conclave in Kohima

Exporters Conclave organised by the District Industry institute Kohima in collaboration with the department of Industries and Commerce Nagaland was held at the Conference Hall of Industries directorate, Kohima on Saturday. 

According to DIPR report, the event was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, N.Bhavani Sri as guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhavani said one of the problems faced by the farmers was the lack of linkage with the market. She added that though the climatic conditions gave surplus production most of the time the produce gets spoilt due to lack of proper packaging and cold storage facilities. 

She therefore encouraged the farmers to go for crops that suit the soil and climatic conditions and informed that the recent inaugurating of soil testing laboratory in Kohima will be able to identify the types of crops which will enable to boost the productions level.

Bhavani mentioned that focus should be based on the natural resources available and the need to encourage entrepreneurship. 

The guest of honour also inaugurated the exhibition stall of the Exporters Conclave.

Joint director, Er. Y. Lipongse Thongstar in his keynote address said that the conclave was to showcase export oriented products inorder to promote trade and export of local Agri-horti produces, processed food products, Handloom and Handicrafts and various exportable products and also to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India independence under the theme “Showcasing India as a rising Economic Force”.

The event was organized by the District Industries Centre (DIC) Kohima, in collaboration with Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Agriculture and Export Products Development Authority of India (APEDA), Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and District Administration.
