Awareness programme on Elderline in Mokokchung

Good Samaritan Women Society in collaboration with Aonglar Women Welfare Society and District Welfare Office organised an awareness programme on “Elder Line (National Helpline for Senior Citizens)” under the aegis of department of social welfare here, on Friday at Longkumer Kilem with NHSC (National Helpline for Senior Citizens, Nagaland), Neithonuo Liegise as the key speaker.

While briefing on Elderline- toll free number 14567, Neithonuo informed that the main objective was to expeditiously attend to the complaints and grievances of the senior citizens. She said that the mission was to make a positive difference to the lives of senior citizens by creating a reliable national helpline which would act as a platform for redressing the grievances of senior citizens in India by providing necessary information and intervention through a collective of highly committed partners including government agencies, NGOs and volunteers.

Neithonuo informed that the state helpline was operational from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Sunday.

Short speeches were delivered by NHSC connect leader

Kevitsonuo and Rtd. CMO & medical officer, Impur Hospital, Dr. Akaba Longchar. The programme was chaired by Aonglar Women Welfare Society president Rowainla and the invocation by Rtd. principal, Clark Theological College, Rev. Takatemjen.
