
Witter Theological College (WTC) celebrated its platinum at the Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) mission centre, Vankhosung, Wokha, on Thursday.
Speaking on the jubilee theme, “echoing grace: reflect, rejoice and renew” LBCA former executive secretary and Ekhyo Yan Baptist Church pastor, Rev. Dr. E. Nrio Ezung said that grace came from God for His people in all circumstances of life and it was grace that enabled people to reflect upon the challenges of the past and turn them into praise worthy experiences in order to renew towards achieving greater and higher goal for His glory.
Recalling the selfless role of pioneering men and women who shaped up the progress of the college 75 years ago from a humbling bible school in the year 1946, he said they had deep seeded vision and contributed for it to have come thus far.
Though they were no more, Dr. Nrio said that they were thankful to Dr. J. E. Tanquist (American missionary), Rev. Megosieso Savino of Khonoma village, Rev. Ahamo Patton, Rev, Zanao Yanthan, Khocherao Humtsoe, Yankho Kikon, Nphyo Kikon and others for their sacrifices.
The speaker also expressed confidence on the existing teaching faculty and non-teaching staff and said that the college was in good hands as it was being guided by efficient leadership with exuding potentials to grow without limit in the years ahead.
In the programme, principal secretary to the government, E. Mhonbemo Patton pointed out that reaching 75 years entailed responsibilities.
He also said what was most important was to have a roadmap for future generation to equip them not only for academic excellence but to help them strive and excel in their calling in a holistic manner by understanding the needs of the comparatively young and developing society.
Meanwhile, LBCA executive secretary, Rev. Dr. L. Tsanso released the jubilee history and prayed for the newly inducted alumni association office bearers.
He also inaugurated Rev. Dr. E. Nrio Ezung library and unveiled the portrait and pronounced the inaugural prayer.
The executive secretary thanked Rev. Dr. E. Nrio for faithfully carrying out the responsibility entrusted on him by LBCA to build the library in his name for the benefit of the students and teachers and anyone who loved books.
The jubilee celebration was chaired by vice principal Dr. T. Nzanthung Ngullie, welcome note was delivered by principal, Dr. Moanungsang, hymn “Here I am Lord” was presented by the jubilee choir while Lochumbeni and Lumrila presented a poetry in motion, “Oh! The Glorious 75 Years” while Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur pastor, Rev. Zanao Mozhui pronounced prayer of blessing for the college.
