Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), Khezhakeno Union Dimapur District (KUDD) and Chiecha Kuda Union (CKU) have resolved to amicably settle the physical assault on Aremchang Imchen by Kevechulo Koza of Khezhakeno and Keneiletuo Zumvü of Chiechama on October 13, in Dimapur.
In a joint declaration, ASTD president Meren Longchar, KUDD president Mezhulhou Koza and CKU president Dr. Tolto Metha stated that the three unions at a joint meeting convened by ASTD at the request of KUDD and CKU “seriously deliberated against the use of the name Ao tribe by the two assailants and assaulting the victim Aremchang Imchen using lethal weapon causing serious injuries which made the victim comatose due to injuries.”
ASTD expressed its unhappiness over the act of the assailants, but after thorough deliberation, the unions resolved that “all the parties shall not take the matter on tribal lines and amicably settle the matter.”
The house was of the “unanimous opinion” that such brutal assaults had “no place in this day and age” when Nagas were yearning for peace, goodwill and harmony amongst the Naga brethren. They urged all members of the organisations to refrain from such “barbaric, senseless and despicable activities” in the future.
Further, the unions, while considering that they would continue to live together in Dimapur district, resolved that the members would “embark on a new journey of camaraderie and kinship; and also, to make an appeal to all like-minded organisations to join us in this voyage so as to usher in a new era of better understanding and relation in the society.”
