Postmaster general NE-II, Dimapur, Som Kamei on Friday inked an agreement with Ilandlo, a Dimapur based e-commerce to deliver their parcel throughout  India and within North Eastern region, under “Buy Now Pay Later” (BNPL) service.

Addressing the media at his office,  Som Kamei said that Nagaland postal division has around 11 service users who used bulk services from the postal department primarily comprising of government sectors.

In this regard, he informed that the signing of agreement with a private enterprise such as Ilandlo was a first of its kind in the state and encouraged other e-commerce entrepreneurs to avail the offer.

When asked on the requirements to avail the service, Kamei said that any e-commerce or company, whose monthly parcels exceeded Rs. 10,000 were eligible for the service, adding that added advantages such as pick up services, credit facilities, tracking and tracing of parcels, grievances cell from the postal department, etc. would be applicable through the service.

He further added that the cost of delivery was much cheaper as compared to private couriers, adding that if a package to be delivered to Delhi by private couriers costs Rs 100, it would amount to Rs. 41 by postal service. He said safety and assurance through postal service was tightened now, adding that customers could also “insure” their packages after paying a minimal amount, whereby those packages would be handled differently.

He hoped that the agreement signed with ILANDLO would further open door for other private users to join hands with postal service in this venture.

Kamei further briefed media persons of the services provided by the postal department, such as banking services, adding that the state has 43 main post office, of which, 40 offices provided banking services, such as withdrawal and anytime banking.
