Addressing media fraternity at a press conference at Tourist Lodge on December 16, chairman NFA, Kashito Kiba stated that since this would be the first of its kind in the state, NFA would be presenting recognition awards to those involved in film making.

He informed that awards would be based on two categories, short film and full length, under which there would also be sub categories.

Another member noted that the main objective of organising the award ceremony was to recognise the efforts made by film fraternity in various categories for their achievements in the state and outside the state.

Further speaking on the aims of NFA, Kiba stated that NFA was formed in 2019, comprising of film directors, producers, actors, artistes, technicians, etc., envisioned with the motto “To promote Naga local films”.

He noted that NFA in its best capabilities would be promoting different Naga tribal films, further adding that a collaborative tribal film consisting of various tribes, directors, editors, producers, etc, from Nagaland would be directed under the umbrella of NFA in 2022, so as to showcase the folklore and traditional ethnicity of Nagaland to the outside world.

He also informed that NFA plans to encourage younger generation of Nagas to get involved in the film industry, adding that the industry was job oriented and also full-time profession. He further said that NFA would be organising workshops, seminars, and technical training courses.

Member NFA, Munna Yadav, later highlighted the problems faced by film makers in the state, stating that it was Nagas themselves who were bringing down the Naga films. He also noted that there was high need for a designated Cinema Hall dedicated to showing Naga made films, adding that this would only encourage and increase the interest of younger generation to get involved in film industry.

Meanwhile, when asked whether NFA would have a censor board, Kiba noted that the association would soon have a censor board, which would look into censoring movies before being released.

Kiba later urged all Nagas involved in film industry to join with NFA so as to work together for the welfare and benefit of Naga films.
