ESSU, AASU and SRSU hold conferences

The annual conferences of Eastern Sumi Students Union (ESSU), Aqahuto Area Students’ Union (AASU) and Sakipheto Range Student’s Union (SRSU) was held on January 5 and 8. 

Advisor of Food and Civil Supplies, LMCP Taxes, Pukhayi Sumi graced the ESSU 40th annual conference held at Aghunato as special guest. 

Speaking on the occasion, Pukhayi encouraged the students to understand the prospect of education and urged them move ahead for a positive change. He also recalled his earlier days under the union and urged the youngsters to invest in their future by educating and seeking better knowledge. 

He further announced special awards for students who excel in their academics under Aghunato and urged all youngsters to abstain from drinking and chewing tobacco. 

Greetings message was delivered by EAC, Aghunato, Mhashumi T. Ezung while the programme concluded with a benediction by Kivikali Chishi.

AASU: Azheto Zhimomi MLA, who was the special guest of AASU 40th annual conference at Zutovi village said people must respect the decision of the government and allow the government to do what is right and just for the betterment of the people at large. 

He was referring to district demarcation issue of Dimapur and Chumukedima districts.

He said development and progress will come only when people support the government to do good for public.

Azheto also stressed on the sincerity of the government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio in its effort for solution to Naga political issue and also its effort to unite all Naga political groups.

He encouraged the students to be sincere and dedicated in their pursuit to succeed in life and to always preserve one’s culture and identity besides reminding the students to remember how parents struggle to give them quality education so that they may have an accomplished life.

President of Aqahuto Tokukujo Kukami Kuqhakulu, Lughozhe Swu who also attended the conference exhorted the students.

SRSU: Three-day 21st annual general conference of Sakipheto Range Student’s Union (SRSU) held under the theme, “visionary student” at Kukidolong concluded on January 5.

A press release by the union stated that special guest of the inaugural session, Western Sumi Hoho president, Shikaho Zhimomi exhorted the students to be more focussed, dedicated and consistent in their endeavour towards achieving the desired goal. 

Zhimomi stressed on the importance of a student’s role in a society and challenged the student community to work harder and give an all-out effort in achieving excellence in life.

Speakers of the conference were in-charge of Gurgaon, Haryana and Nagaland, NGO Helping Hand, New Delhi, Abel Naga Achumi; SDO (civil) Medziphema, Tokai V. Sumi; Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu president, Hutoshe Kits and Sakipheto Baptist Church Pastor Kahoto Zhimomi; greetings were also delivered by Western Sumi Students’ Union, president A. Kughato Achumi; Chakhroma Students’ Union, president, V. Akieto Khro and Sakipheto Area Youth Front president, Kakishe Achumi. The three-day long conference also included various sports and cultural activities, literary competitions as well as felicitation of meritorious students. Zhuikhu Students’ Union emerged as the over-all champion while Medziphema Sumi Students’ Union was awarded with the best disciplined unit.
