Naga Club observed “Naga Day” at Kohima Village Council hall here on Monday in remembrance and commemoration of January 10, 1929– the day Naga Club submitted a memorandum to the Simon Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, Naga Club president Koulachalie Seyie emphasised that Nagas needed to be adaptive and equip themselves to face complexities of the fast-moving modern world. He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to work for the welfare of all Nagas, urging them not to be divided through lies and manipulations. (Full text on p-6)
In his speech, former additional chief secretary TN Manen requested the people to create new identity of “Naganess” and spoke on the impact of Simon Commission in the history of Nagas. He said the memorandum was submitted to Simon Commission on behalf of all Nagas, showing oneness and unity and preserving, which out to be preserved for generations to come.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Naga Club’s vice-president John Lohe, while the welcome speech was delivered by Kohima Village Council chairman Helievio Solo. A discussion was held on the occasion, which was moderated by Robert Solo. Special numbers were presented by Aeterna and Meleat.
