In continuation of Transport Department’s notification and in exercise of powers conferred under Section 95 of the Motor Vehicles Act. 1988, the state government has notified ceiling limit for issue of two wheeler taxi permit in each district.
According to a DIPR report, drivers of two wheeler taxi’s should wear yellow helmet and yellow half vest with the inscription “TAXI”, at the back of the helmet and the vest.
It further added that pillion rider shall wear a uniform color code of yellow helmet.
Following are the names of districts and total numbers of two wheelers taxi allotted by the state government. Kohima (150); Mokokchung (75); Tuensang (50); Mon (50); Wokha (50); Zunheboto (50); Dimapur (100) and Phek (50).
Booking for choice vehicle registration number: Meanwhile, the state government, in the interest of public service, has notified that the Motor Vehicles Department under Transport department has introduced system of “Booking for Choice Vehicle Registration Number” through payment of booking fee of Rs. 2000 valid for a period of six months, at the registering offices across the state.
Such booked choices shall be extended for another period of six months, only subject to payment of Rs. 2000 for that period of extension, the notification added.
It added that no further extension whatsoever could be made for booked number after expiry of the extended period.
