Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) conducted the 4th Quarterly Meeting of the Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) through the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in their respective districts. During this quarter, 10 UTRC sittings were held across the state and 35 UTPs and convicts were considered for UTRC where 13 UTPs and convicts were recommended for bail or release.
Five persons were released pursuant to UTRCs recommendations. The number of bail or other applications moved post recommendations was 10, stated in a press release by Public Relations Assistant, NSLSA, KetholenoNeihu. Out of the recommendations made, eight UTPs were released on bail by the court, but were not able to furnish sureties.
In the month of December, Phek DLSA conducted UTRC meeting at District Court Complex Phek while the meetings were also in Mokokchung, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Dimapur, Peren, Wokha, Kohima, Mon and Longleng.
