Kohima and Dimapur have won their respective matches during the second day of the ongoing second edition of late G. Rio memorial U-1 9 (boys) inter district cricket tournament of January 26 at Nagaland Cricket Stadium and Sovima Cricket Ground respectively.
In the match between Kohima and Zunheboto, Kohima beat Zunheboto and won the match by 150 runs. Zunheboto after having won the toss invited Kohima to bat first. Half centuries from Zipa Pohena (67 runs) and Peter (56 runs) took Kohima to a decent total before they were bundled out for 182 in 41.5 overs.
For Zunheboto, Kito L Achumi and Sonu Kumar picked 3 wickets each. In the run-chase, Zunheboto struggled from the very first over and none of their batsmen could score a double figure as they were bowled out for 32 in just 10.4 overs.
For Kohima, Samuel Zaputou took 4 wickets while Jenithung S Ezung scalped 3 wickets.
Meanwhile, Dimapur defeated Kiphire by 237 runs. Defending champion Dimapur managed to register their second win at the ongoing tournament by thrashing Kiphire by a huge margin of 237 runs.
Dimapur after having won the toss and opted to bat first could post a total of 274 runs all out in 50 overs. Fine knocks from the captain and wicket-keeper Yugandhar who scored 130 runs (first century of the tournament) and valuable contribution from Mughavi Sumi (27 runs) took Dimapur to a fine total.
For Kiphire, Seyavi took 3 wickets while Horiba got 2 wickets. In the run-chase, Kiphire were never in the hunt as their batsmen struggled with the Dimapur bowlers and none could cross the double figure as they were bundled out for a paltry 37 runs all out in just 16.4 overs.
For Dimapur, Poiring bowled an excellent spell scalping 6 wickets which included a hat-trick (1st hat-trick of the tournament).
