Dimapur district joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 73rd Republic Day at Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) here on Wednesday with minister, planning & coordination, land revenue, and parliamentary affairs, Neiba Kronu, unfurling the tricolour flag.
Delivering the Republic Day speech, Kronu urged the people to take a pledge on Republic Day to re-dedicate themselves to ensure that the fruits of development reached everyone and every nook and corner of the State.
Stating that the state has achieved a lot over the decades, the minister called upon all the citizens to “unitedly” make Nagaland a more developed and progressive State.
Kronu lauded the interventions made by Agriculture and allied departments in the agriculture value chain to improve returns for farmers and assisting them in the midst of the pandemic. He said that Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board (NSAMB) has till date purchased and sold more that 210 MT of organic vegetables from all the districts. The board has also exported 5.12 MT of horticulture products outside Nagaland during 2021. He said that Organic AC Market has helped farmers of the state to increase the shelf life of the products and also fetching premium prices form them.
Informing that the department soil and water conservation has set up static soil testing laboratories in 11 districts, the minister said that installation of mini laboratories in 74 blocks was being launched on the occasion.
He also maintained that the state government had been consistently promoting tourism in the state for its contribution to the local economy.
Further, Kronu spoke on the state government’s effort to promote entrepreneurship and provide easier access to finance at cheaper rates through banks by implementing SARFAESI Act in the state. He said the state government had passed the Act only after ensuring rights of the people guaranteed under Article 371 A.
The minister highlighted various initiatives and achievements of the state government.
After the speech, the minister inspected the march past contingents led by parade commander, ACP Ninoto I Zhumomi, parade 2 i/c ABI, Solo Kath RHQ Dimapur and took salute from four parade contingents.
Earlier, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rhotihu Tetseo, conducted parade review. On the occasion, special number was presented by Nungshiyanger Imsong and Aien.
Later, minister inaugurated exhibition stalls opened by District Rural Development Authority.
