India Tourism Guwahati in collaboration with Pier Tours Kohima organized a felicitation program for Vezo Swüro of Chesezu village on January 25 to mark the National Tourism Day.
In a press note, Pier Tours proprietor Kejaroko Pieru said that Vezo was an associate of Netaji and INA during the battle of Kohima in 1944 when they camped at Chesezu village. He personally assisted Netaji and his people by taking them around Chesezu and nearby places. Pieru said that the warrior village of Chesezu where Netaji camped is believed to be one of the places, where he was last seen. Short speeches were delivered by Village Council chairman Mulunuyi Khesoh, Kejaroko Pier, vice president of Nagaland Tourism Association and proprietor of Pier Tours, and Muleyi Khesoh on behalf of Vezo’s family. Earlier, the program was chaired by Vesezo Ringa, invocation by Thupushoyi Swüro pastor CBC, keynote address by Nozuta Swuro, ex-MLA.
Special numbers were presented by Kuthoveyi Nyekha & Povezo Nyekha and Vekutalu and friend. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Vetacho Nienu chairman CONHAT.
The programme was attended by village leaders, family members and well-wishers. The programme ended with a grand Sükrünye Feast.
