Dimapur topped the Pool-A table which concluded on January 27 and advanced to the final of the ongoing second late G. Rio Memorial U-19 (boys) inter-district cricket tournament at Nagaland cricket stadium and cricket ground Sovima. Dimapur will next play against the Pool-B topper on February 2.
Pool-B consisting of Wokha, Peren, Mokokchung and Tuensang will start from January 29.
In the match between Dimapur and Zunheboto at Nagaland Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Dimapur won by 9 wickets. Winning the toss, Dimapur invited Zunheboto to bat first.
Zunheboto were bundled out for 73 runs in 19.3 overs. Sonu Kumar (19 runs), Nihuto (17 runs) and Bekuto (11 runs) were the major run scorers.
For Dimapur, Aloto Sumi – 2/2 (2.3 overs), Keduowhetuo – 2/12 (3 overs) and Khrievitso Kense – 2/25 (4 overs).
In the run-chase, Dimapur reached the target in just 10.2 overs. Sujal Prasad- (25 runs), Mughavi Sumi (20) and Yugandhar (12 runs)
For Zunheboto, Oloka took the lone wicket.
Meanwhile, Kohima defeated Kiphire by 10 wickets. Kiphire Boys U-19 after having won the toss and elected to bat first was not a good start as they lost wickets at regular intervals and they were bundled out for just 43 runs in 16.2 overs. Only Surjay Bahadur (10 runs) could manage to score a double figure.
For Kohima, Samuel Zaputou got 5 wickets conceding only 11 runs in 7.2 overs. Kohima easily managed to reach the target without losing a wicket in just 5.3 overs. Seyievizo Zaputou scored 25 runs.
