NSCN (I-M), FGN and Rev. Dr. V.K. Nuh have mourned the death of Nagaland first State Chaplain Rev. Yankey Patton who passed away on January 28.
NSCN (I-M): NSCN (I-M) has mourned the demise of Rev. Yankey Patton. In a condolence message, NSCN (I-M) chairman, Q. Tuccu described late Rev. Yankey as God fearing leader, who made his presence felt throughout his life with his strong conviction. In his demise, late Yankey had left behind footprints for others to follow to work for God wholeheartedly without looking back, Tuccu said.
NSCN (I-M) chairman said that Naga nation is proud of late Rev. Yankey who had lived an exemplary life leading the people to live close with God and to work for God. Further, Tuccu on behalf of all NSCN workers conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
In another condolence message, NSCN (I-M) kilonser M Daniel Lotha described late Lotha as a mentor to many, showing extraordinary compassion for the lives of the people he encountered on his journey, a powerful preachers and a spiritual rock. The NSCN (I-M) recognized and remembered late Yankey valuable contribution as one of the great man of God for the Naga, the message stated.
Further NSCN (I-M) conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
FGN: While extending condolences to the bereaved family members, FGN president, Gen (retd) Viyalie Metha in a press release stated that late Rev. Yankey of Ralan village, joined NNC/FGN in 1950s and served the nation as a “spiritual chaplain” in Naga army, FGN.
Metha stated that late Rev. Yankey wholeheartedly worked for peace with the peace mission members and members of the peace observer team when the international ceasefire agreement was signed between the FGN and the government of India in 1964.
Terming late Rev. Yankey as a honest and principled national worker until 1970s, FGN stated that he (Yankey) remained a nationalist though he did not work in the field as an active worker.
FGN stated that his passing away was a great loss for the Naga people and the valuable services rendered by him to the nation will be recorded. FGN further prayed for the departed soul rest in peace and almighty grant solace to the bereaved family members.
Rev. Nuh: In a condolence message, Rev. Dr. V.K. Nuh said the demise of Rev. Yankey Patton was a great lost for the Naga people. Rev. Nuh said late Rev. Yankey was a veteran soldier of Christ who fought many battles for the Lord, and the Lord enabled Him for all the success.
Describing Rev. Patton as the son of the soil of the Nagas. Rev. Nuh said late Rev. Yankey prayed and dedicated the “Naga National flag” history ceremony on March 22, 1956 at Parashen and also dedicated the prayer of Naga Archival Resources Centre.
“He lay down many historical miles stone in his life for the future generation to come,” read the message. Paying rich tribute to late Rev. Yankey, Rev. Nuh said the people have lost a great man of God and that he died a fully ripe man.
