ABAM Sunday School curriculum released

ABAM Sunday School curriculum titled, “Salvation Story” Grade 1-15 was released by ABAM executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener on January 28 at Impur.
After releasing the curriculum, Rev. Dr. Mar stated that in 1878 Mary Mead, with a transformative vision, started functioning Sunday school in the local churches.
Since then, for more than one hundred and forty years, ABAM has been using resources from different Christian publications. However, in 2016 at the ABAM General Council, the house resolved to have an original Sunday school curriculum.
Following which, ABAM literature and education ministry took the initiative with Chubatemjen, coordinator, Sunday school, ABAM, spearheading a team of 16 member writers who without any attrition worked day and night out to complete the Grade 15, Rev. Dr. Mar stated.
He said that the curriculum was written in three perspectives; text, context, and tradition to serve maximal approach for all age groups.
While spelling correction was done by Imsüsashi Pongen and all graphic designs by Onen Atsongchanger.
Earlier, delivering the introduction to the curriculum, secretary, literature and education, ABAM, T. Apok Jamir said that Sunday school is the heart of the church, and so, Sunday school teachers need to consider as special and teach with dedication.
Associate pastor, Christian Education, Kohima Ao Baptist Church, Alice Walling; pastor, Medziphema Town Ao Baptist Church, Anungba Imsong also spoke on the occasion.
In his speech, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener said that as James 3:1 depicts the accountability of teachers and every teacher must ensure that every student was on the right track and lead them to the true Christian destination.
Meanwhile, ABAM expressed gratitude to Changtongya Town Baptist Church Christian Education Ministry for leading the praise and worship and Tuli Lenten Baptist Church Christian Education Ministry for stewardship.
