Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) slams Dr. Shürhozelie’s statement

February 27, 2022 | by admin

Hitting out at NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie’s statement that “Those against NPF are against Nagas”, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K. Therie described it as a desperate last attempt, misleading and uncalled for.
Therie further reminded that “everyone is working for the welfare of the people.”
The NPCC president said that NPF’s politics was detrimental to the interests of Nagas in Manipur, as they were limiting the arena of Nagas in India and Manipur. Therie said “NPF’s politics ends at Kohima” while “ NPP’s politics also ends at Shillong”.
He said both NPF and NPP cannot defend or protect the interests of Nagas in Parliament as they “are mere stooges of the BJP.”
Therie said that voting for NPF or for BJP was the same, claiming that one of the NPF candidates even had publicly assured to support BJP.
He also alleged that NPF was contesting in few Naga inhabited areas with the support of UGs (undergrounds) and that Congress candidates were threatened and even asked to withdraw their nominations and voters were also threatened with dire consequences.
Therie maintained that “NPF cannot win even one seat without the support of UGs”. He said the NPF and UGs have exhibited evidence before government of India and the people of Manipur. Therie said this was against the democratic system and violation of election code of conduct, which is liable for disqualification.
Though people want free and fair election, Therie said the undercurrent was different. He predicted that people will defeat “NPF for their nexus with UGs”.
He said the crowd of over 50,000 at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s rally and about 10,000 at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Manipur, revealed the minds of the people as it has proved that there is groundswell in favour of secularism.
