Celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” in commemoration of 75 years of Independence and as part of North East Festival 2022, walkathon was carried out on May 2 Dimapur, Wokha, Longleng and Zunheboto districts.
In Dimapur, the walkathon which began from Circular Road (City Tower) via Tajen Ao Road and ended at Deputy Commissioner (DC) office junction was flagged off by EAC Dimapur Sadar, Nukshi Matong.
According to a DIPR report, at the event, two senior citizens—G. Kami Rongmei and Yanbemo Humtsoe aged 67 and 59 respectively took part in the event along with students from Christian Higher Secondary School and Holy Cross School.
Wokha: Wokha district administration in coordination with department of Youth Resources and Sports organised a walkathon from Police Point to PWD Junction, Tsumang Colony which culminated at the office of DC Wokha.
According to a DIPR report, the walkathon was flagged off by DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha and participated by NCC cadets from Government Higher Secondary School Wokha, NSS volunteers from Bailey Baptist College, Mt. Tiyi college and NYKS.
Longleng: Around 70 participants from all age groups led by DC Longleng, M. Shayung Phom and SP Longleng participated in a walkathon organised by Longleng district administration. The walkathon began from the DC’s hill junction and culminated at Yingli College, informed DIPR report.
Zunheboto: In Zunheboto, the walkathon was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali at K L Chishi Junction, Zunheboto. The event saw participation from NSS, NCC, NYKS, district administration, police, Assam Rifles, skylark club, green club, etc.
