Nationalistic feeling must for eco development: Gov

Governor of Assam and Nagaland Prof Jagdish Mukhi has reiterated that nationalism was vital force for driving economic development of the country,
The governor said this while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of Bharat Vikash Parishad (BVP) North East Region National Song Competition at Latika Cinema Hall here on Sunday.
Prof Mukhi also emphasised that the Bharat Vikash Parishad was a body of some well-to-do individuals who were involved in carrying out humanitarian services for the poor and needy.
He also maintained that the BVP also worked towards creating and promoting nationalistic feeling among all people and lauded the parishad in this regard.
Dwelling on the programme, Prof. Mukhi said district-level competitions were conducted, after which five selected teams from Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will be competing at the national level.
He said the national level final competition would be held at Bhilwara, Rajasthan.

NFR to begin process for eviction on Railway land: NFR GM

Meanwhile, speaking to media at the same event, General Manager Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) Anshul Gupta informed that the NFR was in the process of issuing notices against encroachers of railway land at Dimapur within a week and as per the order to of the Supreme Court on the Railways regarding encroachments.
In this regard, Gupta said NFR has requested Dimapur district administration and police for assistance in carrying out the eviction drive. Gupta further mentioned NFR had already identified the areas from where encroachers would be evicted.
On the future plans for Dimapur railway station, Gupta reiterated that the station’s future was bright and for which, NFR has planned expansion and development of the station in order to make it into a world class railway station.
He said that an action plan had already been finalised for developing Dimapur railway station, which is not only among the oldest railway stations in the Northeast, but also in the country.
Gupta disclosed that the onsite inspection was also conducted on Sunday morning. He said that NFR plans to develop the railway station as amongst the highest revenue earning stations. He stressed that this can only happen when the railways is able to regain back land needed for development.
He also disclosed that all works have been sanctioned and that NFR was only waiting for the land needed.
