Regional superior of Jesuits, Kohima region, Reverend Father Melvil Pereira SJ along with mission pioneer Fr Raymond D’ Souza SJ on March 3 visited the first established Catholic Church (November 22, 1970) by Jesuits in North East India, St Francis Xavier Church Kidima.
A press release by the church informed that during the visit, Fr Melvil Pereira expressed gratitude for the opportunity to offer Eucharist in the church.
Fr Pereira asked the faithful to pray for transformation and conversion of one’s life while calling upon the congregation to obey and listen the Lord in the time of problem, difficulties, pain, and sorrow.
He reminded them that they cannot take any worldly materials into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Speaking on the occasion, Parish Priest, Fr Siby John deliberated on how Jesuits plays a vital role in the society.
During the programme, Kidima Catholic Youth presented welcome song while juniors association sang a song. The regional superior along with leaders also visited sister’s convent and other developmental works undertaken by the church.
