Kohima Village Council (KVC) at its general meeting on April 15 deliberated on matters in regard to Urban Local Body (ULB) elections to three municipals and 36 town councils in Nagaland, and adopted two-point resolutions.
In a press note, KVC vice chairman Zeneizo Rutsa and general secretary Vezonyü Kelio said the meeting reaffirmed to uphold the March 15, 2023 “KVC Resolution”, pertaining to the ULB election. The house also resolved to firmly support and uphold the APO executive meeting resolution passed on April 11, 2023.
Further, KVC also acknowledged the “matured wisdom and decision” of the state government to postpone the proposed ULB election and repealing Nagaland Municipal Act 2001. The council appreciated state government under the leadership of the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio for “giving attention and keeping the voice and aspiration of the Nagas on top priority.”
