The Western Sumi frontal organisations have jointly appealed to the government of India to enter into a ceasefire agreement with the NSCN/GPRN group led by Akato Chophi.
This appeal was made at a meeting called by Western Sumi frontal organisation with Akato Chophi led NSCN/GPRN group at Hoito village Tuesday . The joint meeting discussed various issues, while extending support to Chophi.
Interacting with media persons after the meeting, President Western Sumi Kükami Hoho(WSKH), N VictoAchumi, informed that the hoho invited the Akato Chophi led NSCN/GPRN group for a meeting. He said the frontal organisations also urged upon the Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN to prevent factional clash or any form of confrontation as there was apprehension of such taking place.
The vice President of WSKH, Lhovishe Achumi expressed similar sentiments, stating that the meeting was called so as to prevent bloodshed amongst brothers and stand for unity. He also said the meeting also appealed to the government of India to include Akato Chophi faction into cease fire.
President of Aqhahuto GBs Union, LK Swu, also mentioned that if necessary, they would jointly petition the Indian government to sign a ceasefire agreement with the NSCN/GPRN led by Akato Chophi.
It may be mentioned that on November 19, 2021, Akato Chophi, led NSCN/GPRN, announced a split from NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) and declared a unilateral ceasefire with the Government of India. However , even after more than a year since the announcement, the government of India has not reciprocated by signing an official ceasefire agreement with the Akato Chophi-led NSCN/GPRN.
