Training on rabies control programme

A one-day training on rabies control was conducted by Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) Phek under CMO office at CMO conference hall, Phek on April 20.
The training was conducted with an objective to prevent and control deaths due to rabies in humans and progressively and to achieve the Global target for “Rabies-Zero by 2030”.
It may be noted that IDSP has conducted training for all the Block Medical Officers of Phek district with Dr. Seyiekhrietuo Rutsa Paediatrician DH, Phek as the resource person.
Dr. Seyie said that rabies was an infection viral disease which spread to human through bites and scratches usually via saliva of rabid animal.
He said that the symptoms of rabies include pain at the site of the bite or scratch, fear of water (hydrophobia), restlessness, excessive salivation, convulsion and finally death.
The Do’s and Dont’s after Post exposure prophylaxis, pre-exposure rabies vaccination, vaccinations of dog etc were also shared to the participants of the training.
