Principal district and session judge cum special judge Kohima, Duvelu Vero, has sentenced a man to undergo rigorous imprisonments of 20 years to be served at district jail Kohima for rape of a child below 16 years of age.
The case against the accused identified as one Vishnu Sahani was investigated by UBSI Vikuobinuo and the prosecution case was conducted in the court by special public prosecutor Sashimongla Jamir.
In her judgment and order, the special judge stated that, the prosecution had proved all the charges U/S 376 AB IPC R/W 4 POCSO ACT beyond reasonable doubt. The special judge also directed payment of compensation to the victim under the Victim Compensation Scheme formulated by the State Government.
