Olympic Day Run was organised by Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) under the theme, “Let’s Move”, saw the participation over 400 kids competing in different race categories at IG Stadium, here on Saturday.
In the 100 meter boys- 13 years to below 16 years category, Ruokuovotuo Yhome, with a time of 12.16 seconds, was placed in the first position while Bodevi Kire and Kevilhoutuo Khezhie were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 100 meter girls- 13 years to below 16 years category, Neshamaonyu Konyak, with a time of 13.37 seconds, was placed in the first position, while Mehrin Beck and Khrotshou were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 80 meter boys- 9 years to below 13 years, Resulem Sangs, with a time of 11.25 seconds, was placed in the first position, while Khangembam Singh and Moaakum were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 80 meter girls- 9 years to below 13 years, Pelevinuo Dzüvichü, with a time of 12.16 seconds was placed in the first position, while Linovi Yeputhomi and Litoni Swu were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 50 meter boys- 6 years to below 9 years, Zahvi Wotsa, with a time of 8.35 seconds was placed in the first position, while Ashik Katwal and Yhunchvülo Kemp were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 50 meter girls- 6 years to below 9 years, Keshonye Khing, with a time of 8.72 seconds, was placed in the first position, while Shongmao Shiu and Lotsutoli Shohe were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 30 meter boys- 4 years to below 6 years, Lango Lam, with a time of 5.85 seconds, was placed in the first position, while Akivito A Ayemi and Lhuzier Lucas Peseyie were placed in the second and third positions respectively.
In the 30 meter girls- 4 years to below 6 years, Dolly Ngomdir, with a time of 7.40 seconds was placed in the first position ,while Zuzuno Sapu and Vivonu Sophie were placed in the second and third positions respectively. Special guest during the prize distribution ceremony, advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimchunger, in a short speech, said sports had the potential to change a person’s life from ordinary to extraordinary.
He observed that sports and physical activities were low-cost, high-impact tool for healthy bodies, mind and a resilient personality.
He said the three pillars of the Olympic day -move, learn and discover were messages sports organizations across the world today were promoting on the benefits of physical exercise, inspiring people to get active and enabling them to discover new avenues while embracing the Olympic ideals regardless of ability or background.
He lauded NOA for successfully organising the event and also congratulated all the winners and participants.
NOA secretary general, advisor to CM and chairman, IDAN, Abu Metha, while extending the Olympic Day message said athletics was the foundation of all games and sports and therefore Nagaland Athletic Association would do everything in its power to develop the discipline and the sportspersons as well. He said there was no backdoor appointment, no under the table arrangement or political influence in sports and any dedicated sportsperson could reach the top without any hindrance.
He however, said sportspersons should be committed in their discipline since there were also no shortcuts in sports.
He announced that the government was coming up with 6 state- of –the -art indoor stadium across with State starting with the one at Chümoukedima which would be inaugurated soon.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by senior VP, NOA, T Meren Paul, while vote of thanks was proposed by assistant secretary general, NOA, Neivikuolie Khatsu.
