‘Kargil victory expedition’ at Kohima War Cemetery

Commemorating 25 years of Kargil war victory in 1999 and in remembrance of the fallen brave Naga heroes, the 2nd Naga Regiment organised a “bike expedition” at WW II Cemetery, Kohima, Saturday.
The flag-off of the bike expedition would be held at Assam Rifles Helipad on July 2 by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (N), Vikas Lakhera. During the flag-off ceremony, the “Soil of Kargil” would be handed over to Veer Naris (next of kins) of war heroes.
Nagaland expedition team would be led by 2nd IC 2 Naga Regiment, Lt Col.; the team would start from Kohima on July 2 and reach Kargil on July 26 (Kargil Diwas) traveling around 3700 km under the theme, “Kargil Victory Ride.”
Speaking as the special guest at the “bike expedition”, advisor of Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum said that brave Naga soldiers were distinct from others and the supreme sacrifice they had made would be remembered always in Indian history. He encouraged the Naga soldiers to keep up the distinct character and discipline they possess.
Wishing the expedition team, a safe ride, Ozukum asked the brave Naga soldiers to extend a salute from the Nagas to the veer Naris, and to talk about the brave hearts of the Nagas to others wherever they go.
The advisor was accompanied by local MLA, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso.
CO 164 Naga TA, Col. Gaurav Singh, SC SM, CO 2 Naga Regiment, SS Gusain, and other officers were part of the programme. At present, the 2nd Naga Regiment are stationed at their Hqs at Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir.
