Felicitating Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on having completed 15 years of existence, convenor WC,NNPGs and ato kilonser GPRN/NSCN N. Kitovi Zhimomi acknowledged that FNR convenor Rev. Dr. Wati Aier and conflict resolution specialist Dr. Akum Longchari have been stalwarts who have hemmed in Naga reconciliation process for the past 15 years.
Kitovi said “FNR created space for dialogue within the Naga family and touched the conscience of the Naga public and revolutionary leaders alike with covenant milestone events”.
He recalled that FNR had witnessed the ‘September Joint Concordant on 14th Sept. 2022” wherein signatories agreed to form “Council of Naga Relationship and Cooperation.”
Again on February 14,2023 FNR organised another meeting and after deliberation among top NPG leaders, a joint statement was signed captioned “Nagas Are Moving Ahead” by N. Kitovi Zhimomi convenor WC, NNPGs and Q. Tuccu chairman NSCN (I-M) after consulting with their respective senior leaders.Kitovi said the signatories declared an unconditional commitment to collaborate on the basis of their respective agreements (Framework Agreement & Agreed Position) with immediate effect “ for the resolution of the historical and political rights of the Nagas.”
However, on February 18, 2023 Kitovi said MIP of NSCN (I-M) declared FA was the only basis for any understanding and so do not acknowledge any other agreement(s). Kitovi asked whether the February 18 statement of NSCN (I-M) indicated that “for some Naga leaders, no solution is better than a solution for them?”
In this regard, Kitovi expressed the hope that FNR “would pull up its sleeves, buckle the seat belt and like an experienced and alert driver, would continue to drive expertly around sharp turns, slippery paths, rocky and steep climbs and take the passengers to their destination. It is challenging indeed but WC, NNPGs will always answer to the call of the Naga people”.
Kitovi also hoped FNR would remain as a “moral and spiritual force, a keeper of Naga conscience, stand tall eyeball to eyeball to all creatures, big or small, in the Naga Ark” for the sake of the future generation to that there should not be any spell of silence.
