Dimapur DPDB discusses need for new DC office complex

Dimapur District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) under the chairmanship of Adviser labour, employment, skill development and excise Moatoshi Longkumer, deliberated on the need for having a new DC Complex for Dimapur district and decided to adopt a resolution in this regard by writing to the government, seeking information on the stipulated time required for the completion of the project proposal and other details.


The matter along with the minutes of the previous meeting was discussed at the DPDB meeting held at the DC Conference Hall on Thursday. Advisor tribal affairs Tovihoto Ayemi noted that having a new DC office Dimapur was a long-felt desire of the people.
On the drainage problems in Dimapur, Tovihoto stated that problem was a major issue faced by Dimapur district especially during the monsoons. He expressed the need for a comprehensive masterplan in order to solve the problem.


The meeting took up the issue of installation of CCTVs in shops and around Dimapur, where representative from commissioner of police (CP) office informed that so far 83 locations have been identified and for which ground works have been done by roping in technicians from Guwahati.
The representative from CP office also informed that police has requested the business community for installing CCTVs but regretted that some did not take it seriously. Therefore the police representative requested the administration to issue notification to the shopkeepers for installation of good quality CCTVs, which would strengthen the security in the district. The police representative said that they will table the full report at the next DPDB meeting.


On waterlogging and inundation of rain water in Dimapur, which was flagged Adviser Moatoshi at the previous meeting, RO Dimapur Thejavizo Nakhro informed the house that a committee has been constituted with DMC administrator and members from several other departments. He informed that the committee has been divided into two teams and spot verification in several locations had been completed. Nakhro informed that the team had been working since last week and expressed hope they would be able to place the report during the next DPDB meeting.


The meeting also decided to write a letter to the transport department for deputing one officer to Dimapur for the convenience of the general public of district with regard to renewal and licensing.
Report through pictures old and unused telephone poles with all kinds of cable wires even including power cable, either dangling or strewn on roadsides which were published on several issue of Nagaland Post was also taken up.


The officer in-charge from administration informed that a meeting was held with the service operators following which all the wires has been bundled up as was done in other states.
The official said bundling of wires has been completed from Tragopan Hotel to Clock Tower and the second phase of work from Clock Tower to DC office junction was underway.
Committee chairman Moatoshi also observed that wires were being drawn from different sites by individual house owners and shopkeepers which were spoil the beauty of Dimapur city. The chairman advised the power department to intervene and solve the problem before Christmas.
Other agendas of the meeting included approval of LADP 2023-24 Schemes for Dimapur I, II and III A/C and registration of societies. The meeting ended with a note of thanks by the chair, who sought cooperation from the members for the welfare of the people.
