Patton inaugurates SDPDB Bhandari

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton on Thursday officially inaugurated the Sub-Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB), Bhandari. Addressing the gathering as special guest at Bhandari local ground, Patton lamented that Bhandari was among the most economically backward areas in Nagaland. While highlighting several reasons for the lack of development of Bhadari, Patton stressed on the need for equal development.


He thanked chief minister Neiphiu Rio for making SDPDB Bhandari a reality and called upon all to extended their support to ensure that development reaches the area.
“This represents a pivotal moment for the people of Bhandari, as it sets into motion the realisation of aspirations and initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of the community,” he said in a post on X.
Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan, emphasizing on the geographical advantage of the area, called upon the people to fully exploit its potential.


He urged the community not to waste their potential in idleness, emphasizing the need for coexisting peacefully vis-à-vis human-animal conflict.
On oil issue, Yanthan informed that a bipartite agreement was expected between the central and state governments, and also mentioned that a committee has been formed to review the Nagaland Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulation 2012.


Chairman of SDPDB Achumbemo Kikon, MLA termed it as red-letter day and said that it was a long-awaited aspiration of the people the area.
He expressed gratitude to chief minister Neiphiu Rio for granting the SDPDB status and also thanked deputy chief minister Y. Patton for taking the initiative and also thanked deputy CM in charge of Planning and Transformation, T.R Zeliang for facilitating and obtaining approval in the state level planning board meeting through his proactive efforts.


During his speech, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA reminded all to acknowledge the leaders of the area for their efforts in laying the foundation in order to achieve the status of SDPDB.
He also assured that the four legislators of Wokha district were working closely together to promote and usher in the development in the district.


Short speeches were also delivered by deputy commissioner Wokha AK Ranjan, representatives of Lower Range Elders and Officers forum.
On the occasion, four NPSC 2023 successful candidates from Bhandari constituency were also felicitated. Highlights of the programme included special songs by Government Higher Secondary School and Senchumbeni S. Odyuo.


The program was chaired by ADC Bhandari Rohit Singh while BTBC pastor Rev N. Longshi Lotha and Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church Bhandari, Rev Father Mathew Rhanben offered prayers during the event.
The four legislators of Wokha district also released doves as a mark of unity.


Later, a joint meeting of DBDP Wokah district and SDPDB Bhandari was held at Bhandari town hall.
Meanwhile, Lotha Lower Range Public Organization has called for a meeting on October 13 and urged all concern to attend the meeting.
