KGSA memorial trophies commence

The 6-day Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association (KGSA) 15-U Kukami trophy (men football)-cum-4th I Vizheto Chophi memorial trophy (men volleyball), 15-U Lhosheli Neho memorial trophy (women volleyball) and badminton (men and women) commenced on Monday at Kuhuboto town.


Out of 25 neighbouring villages, there are 14 teams in football (men) and 13 teams in volleyball (men) and 15 teams in volleyball (women). The inaugural programme was graced by Dimapur District Autorickshaw Drivers Union (DDADU) president Tito Yepthomi as the special guest, who also kicked off the tournament.


Yepthomi lauded the organizers for organizing such event to uplift the younger generation and encouraged the association to continue with their good work. He encouraged the players to have commitment, sincerity and dedication so as to bring a good name to the association. He further urged players to preserve “sportsmanship and sporting spirit” so as to compete in various level of competition in sports arena in future. The event was sponsored by Hoito village. The oath was administered by KGSA games and sports in-charge Hosheto Aye.


Earlier, invocation prayer was offered by Hoito village pastor Viyito Zhimomi, greetings by Hoito village head GB Khehovi Chophy, donor speech were delivered by KGKK and family member of the 4th I Vizheto Chophi memorial trophy (men volleyball) and special number by Anitoli H Chishi.


Prizes for football (Men) first prize – Rs. 50, 000, second Rs. 25,000 and semi-finalist will walk out with Rs. 5,000 each; Volleyball first – Rs. 40,000, second- Rs. 25, 000 and semi-finalist – Rs. 5000 (each), volleyball (women) first – Rs. 15,000, second – Rs. 10,000 and semi-finalist – Rs. 5000 whereas badminton (men and women) first prize will be awarded with Rs. 5,000 and second Rs. 2,500.
