There are several likely outcomes which could arise in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and all seem to reflect on the inescapable destiny that intertwines them. One of the likely outcome is that if the war continues with more civilian casualties ; it could spill over and widened into a major conflict involving other Islamic jihadi groups like Hezbollah or the Houthis from Yemen( both of who are funded by Iran). It could also draw Iran, Qatar and Syria or even Turkey and turn the war into Islam versus the West. Israel has sworn to finish Hamas and if this results in greater collateral damage on civilians, then Iran and hard line Muslim nations will use it to inflame passions across the muslim world and call for a unified Jihad against Israel and the USA( and the West). With the UNGA already calling for cease fire but which Israel has rejected outright as it believes giving up now will benefit Hamas at its own risk. Israel is in no mood to stop the invasion of Gaza purely for its own survival. Israel has had bitter experience with UN cease fires in the past, which have only saved its enemies from total defeat by allowing them to rearm and rebuild against Israel. The US has come very close to joining the war after it despatched its two super warships to check Iranian misadventure. The two of its super warships- USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower- have been deployed to the Mediterranean to bolster Israel’s defence against possible Iranian involvement in the Gaza war. Without US backing, Israel would not have the capability to take on the entire Muslim world on its own. The war has also isolated the US from its NATO allies such as Turkey, which is now calling for a united front against Israel. In Israel, the man who is being held solely responsible for the disaster is prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu who was instrumental in building up Hamas as a counter against the Fatah party in the West Bank. Netanyahu had faced criminal charges on corruption and was being probed by the Israeli court but still he won election. He aligned with extreme right wing parties to form the government and pushed for forcible settlement of Israelis in the West Bank to appease the right wingers. The border force was reduced at the Gaza and deployed at West Bank and this depletion of Israeli security gave Hamas the advantage and opportunity. Also his move to pass legislation in the Knesset to empower the government to appoint judges in the supreme court had outraged most Israelis. This led to mass protest for weeks across Israel. The situation in Israel pre-October 7 indicated that Netanyahu’s policies had created the situation that led Israel to be under siege over the appointment of judges; clashes in the West Bank due to settlement of Israelis and redeployment of personnel from Gaza for security in the West Bank. The Gaza war is not likely to end soon and more lives on both sides will be lost. However, far worse is that the US and some of its allies could get involved in the Armageddon and China and Russia will certainly be on the other side.
