Artificial Intelligence(AI) has developed by leaps and bounds within the decades which has led to establishment of a digitally-driven world. Two decades ago, AI’s capabilities first shocked the world when IBM’s Deep Blue computer beat the reigning world chess champion. Since then AI has boomed in its range and capacity to both replicate and generate ideas. As the world witnesses unprecedented growth in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, it’s essential to consider the potential risks and challenges associated with their widespread adoption. Indeed AI has progressed to a stage that was previously unfathomable and today, there are views about how much should the technology be allowed to progress. AI is commonly used for Text Generation for a variety of purposes like drafting emails, coding, content creation; Design and Creativity Tools like Adobe Sensei, DeepArt, Runway ML ; Music Composition – Jukedeck and OpenAI’s MuseNet can create original compositions and Image and Video Generation through tools like Deepfake technology and Generative Adversarial Networks etc. The conversations are in two parts- excitement over the endless possibilities of advancement and the fear of the potentially catastrophic consequences of such a rapidly evolving intelligence system. What is being hotly discussed and even debated today, owes it to John McCarthy, an American computer scientist, considered as the father of Artificial Intelligence. The term “artificial intelligence” was coined by him. He is one of the founder of artificial intelligence, together with Alan Turing, Marvin Minsky, Allen Newell, and Herbert A.An overreliance on AI technology could result in the loss of human influence- and a lack in human functioning – in some parts of society. Using AI in healthcare could result in reduced human empathy and reasoning, for instance. The drawbacks of AI include job displacement, ethical concerns about bias and privacy, security risks from hacking, a lack of human-like creativity and empathy. Elon Musk cautioned that AI will eventually create a situation where ‘no job is needed.’ He was reported to have said this while speaking with U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The tech billionaire Musk said that AI will have the potential to become the “most disruptive force in history.” While AI such as robots or chips have been widely used during the several decades and though there have been major advancements in AI; yet it cannot replicate and recreate human ideas and work. AI may be used in wider areas but it cannot substitute for human imagination. AI can help improve access to education, healthcare, and clean water, and can also aid in the fight against climate change, poverty, and hunger. However, it is crucial to ensure that AI is developed and used in an ethical and responsible manner. AI is best suited for handling repetitive, data-driven tasks and making data-driven decisions. As the future of AI replaces tedious or dangerous tasks, the human workforce is liberated to focus on tasks for which they are more equipped, such as those requiring creativity and empathy. People employed in more rewarding jobs may be happier and more satisfied. Development of AI could result in creation of humanoids but it is beyond human intelligence and capability to replicate God’s creations. Numerous sci-fi movies featuring humanoids may happen in future but when humans attempt to play God; it will only end up catastrophic.
