The GPRN/NSCN celebrated the 16th Naga Unification Day at Council Headquarters, Naga Unification Camp, Khehoyi on Wednesday. The programme started with unfurling of the Naga national flag by National Tatar Hoho (NTH) speaker Inaka Tsuqu, followed by guard of honour.

Addressing the programme as special guest, Tsuqu extended his greetings and paid respect and homage to the fallen Naga patriots, and recalled the background leading to the unification of the warring Naga national factions in 2007.

Speaking on the significance of a united national movement, he asserted that the desire and aspirations of the past Naga patriotic pioneers and Naga people would be realised with the blessings and guidance of the almighty God soon.

Alezo Venuh, envoy to collective leadership, on the occasion, narrated how the political negotiations were initiated between the Naga national political groups (NNPGs) and the Central government to sort out the long-pending and vexed Indo-Naga political issue.

He said negotiations with the Centre had concluded in 2019 and inking of a final agreement was awaited. He encouraged the gathering to re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to the achievement reached thus far since 2007 in realisation of Naga political solution.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by kilo kilonser Hothrong Yimkhiung, while a moment of silent prayer was observed in honour of the martyrs. The programme concluded with a benediction from Manging Konyak, assistant chaplain, GHQ Church.
