‘Anti-drug campaign’ held in Tuensang

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Miss Nagaland Hikali Achumi and Kripa Foundation, organized “Anti-Drug Campaign” at DC ground Tuensang, on November 23. According to PRO (Defense), IGAR (N), chief guest, Commander 7 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier Vikram Singh, highlighted that the porous borders with Myanmar, proximity to infamous triangle of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos, provided easy access of drugs into Nagaland. He also emphasized on the role of Assam Rifles in prevention of drug menace in border areas adjoining Myanmar.


Singh stressed that the battle against drugs was to be fought at four levels i.e., government, community, family and individual and also underlined the importance of cooperation amongst Government, Assam Rifles, Civil Administration, CSOs, Church organisations, etc to prevent against this menace and spreading awareness among masses to create a drug-free environment.


Meanwhile, Reigning Miss Nagaland, Hikali Achumi, also shared her valuable insights and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in combating the drug abuse in whole of North East by adding depth to the campaign.
CMO Tuensang District Hospital, Dr. Senilo Magh also addressed the audience on drug awareness.


A total of 900 students and 22 civil dignitaries from Tuensang along with 120 representatives of local civil society attended the event.
Highlights of the event also included, dance performance by Yimkhiung Cultural Group, Chang Student Group, and performance by Saramati Sisters, followed by performance by Assam Rifles Jazz Band.


The event ended with the pledge ceremony on anti-drug and The Mass Bike Rally by 20 Bikers from FRONTIER RE EN EIOC Bike club starting from DC ground, rallying in Tuensang district and finishing at DC ground spreading anti-drug awareness.
