The Chümoukedima invitational inter-ward and village futsal tournament (5-a-side), witnessed the final clash between Ward 2 and Ward 9 at the JJ Arena on December 13, where Ward 9 emerged triumphant 6-2 and secured the championship title.

Organized by the Chümoukedima District Football Association, the tournament kicked off on December 8, under the theme, “One Chümoukedima”. The player of the tournament was awarded to Victor Thomsong (Ward 2 Chümoukedima), fair play award by Tenyiphe-I, best goal keeper by Imna (Ward 5 Chümoukedima).

President Kohima District Football Association, Mathew Yhome, graced the occasion as the special guest. In his speech, Yhome emphasized on the importance of focusing on the present generation and fostering unity.

Yhome challenged the players to uphold discipline, respect elders and one another, while cautioning against the pitfalls of alcohol consumption that has marred the potential of many talented players.

He also stressed on the significance of discipline, expressing confidence that those who adhere to it would go far in their football journeys. Yhome later urged players to choose a single profession and become masters in it, emphasizing that Nagas need to excel in their chosen fields to make a mark at the national level. He advocated for patience, highlighting the recent declaration of Chümoukedima as a sports and education district by the state government.

Yhome expressed delight over the declaration of Chümoukedima as a district of sports and education by the state government. Later, convenor of the organizing committee, Sedevikho Angami, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, supporters, and organizers for making the tournament a grand success.
