Mahindra & Mahindra chairman Anand Mahindra has extended an invitation to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to perform at the upcoming Mahindra Blues music festival following the latter’s video strumming a guitar to a song by the band Iron Maiden went viral.
“Uber cool… we need you out here at the @mahindrablues in Feb @SangmaConrad!” Mahindra wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Sangma’s guitar performance took place at the Roof Top Cafe in Tura (his assembly constituency) on December 26 as part of a reunion of his college rock band ‘Saga.’ Sangma displayed his apolitical side and set the string on fire with one of the iconic songs of Iron Maiden’s Wasted Years written by bassist Adrian Smith, who also provided vocals to the song and played the guitar solo.
Some of the lyrics goes like this: “Don’t waste your time always searching for those wasted years… Realize you’re living in the golden years, hey,” which Sangma strung.
Responding to Mahindra’s post, the Chief Minister wrote, “Would love to @anandmahindra… need more practice though :).”Mahindra Blues Festival held annually at Mehboob Studios, Bandra, Mumbai has witnessed some of the iconic Blues stars performing. Some of the stars who performed include Buddy Guy, Walter Trout and John Mayall.
Sangma, the youngest son of former Lok Sabha Speaker and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Purno Agitok Sangma, had posted several videos of him playing numbers of Iron maiden and other rock stars of the western world that were equally appreciated by his followers all over the state and also across the country.
