28th Winter Cricket Challenge: LCYO and Elite CC through to the quarters

LCYO and Elite CC have booked their berths in the quarter finals after winning their respective matches at the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge on Sunday at local ground Wokha Town.
In the first match, LCYO defeated Imperials by 19 runs. Imperials won the toss and opted to field first. LCYO set a target of 172 runs in 20 overs losing 6 wickets where Rendemo 35, Renben 58 and Chumben 25 were the tops scorers.
While chasing the target and in a close chase, Imperials failed to reach the target and LCYO won the match by 19 runs in the 20th over. Top contributors were Khyothungo Patton 32, Abemo Kikon 45, Mhajan Tsanglao 23 and Mhathung 18. Renben Kikon of LCYO was adjudged the man of the match for his 58 runs knock.
In the second match, Elite CC beat Rising Stars by a huge margin of 110. Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Elite CC set a huge target of 215 runs losing just one wicket in 20 overs. The two-opening batsman, Imomemba scored 74, Veri 21 and the first down batsman Tapitu with 94.
While chasing the target, Rising Stars failed to reach the target and lost the match by a huge margin of 110 runs losing 8 wickets. Top scorers were Khyolamo 28 and Abel Shitiri 17. Tapitu was adjudged the man of the match for his 94 runs (Not Out) knock in 32 balls.
The day’s patron was president Naga Club and proprietor Seyie Motors Nagaland, Koulachale Seyie who was accompanied by chairman Kohima Lotha Hoho, KN Mhonthung Lotha and chairman Nagaland Handloom and Handicraft Corporation Limited, Parselie Peinyu.
