Tuensang police has introduced a mobile app “Complaint Connect” aimed at enhancing case monitoring, facilitating easy tracking, and providing status updates. In a press release, SP Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, said that the “Complaint Connect” app will greatly aid in monitoring the progress of each case.
Given that the police station covers villages located in remote areas, often hours away, where people hesitate to visit the station due to economic and other reasons, the initiative will bridge that gap, Kandpal said.
Under the app, users were not required to download any separate application; instead, they can simply send their complaints to the WhatsApp number 7085486818. Subsequently, they will automatically receive updates on their complaints via WhatsApp, from registration to the filing of chargesheets.
SP said that app was set to revolutionize the way crimes were registered, cases were monitored, and conclusions reached. Initially, Tuensang Police will conduct a test run exclusively for Tuensang Police Station starting from February 20 onwards.
The innovative app comprises two key components. Firstly, a WhatsApp chatbot accessible to the public allows users to initiate communication by simply sending “hi” or “help” to a designated WhatsApp number. Through this interface, users will receive automatic notifications and status updates, effectively transforming it into a virtual police station.
Secondly, a separate application will be available exclusively for police personnel. The app enables the assignment of cases to Investigating Officers (IOs) and facilitates monitoring of their progress. Additionally, it provides insights into the workload of each IO and allows superior officers to track the timeline of each case.
The feature will also ensure timely completion and submission of cases to the court, thereby enhancing efficiency in the judicial process, SP said. Tuensang Police has also uploaded a video on their Facebook page and Twitter account, explaining the functionalities of the app.
