Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zunheboto, Nagaland University (NU) conducted an input distribution programme under the project, tribal community development on February 23 at Beisumpuikam Village in Peren district.
A press release by KVK Zunheboto informed that scientist and head/ PI of the project, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia conducted training on “production and management of rainbow roosters”.
He said these birds were dual purpose breeds which have a good growth rate and have good production potential. Dr. Chaurasia informed that these birds could be reared in both systems and semi- intensive system, and that they fetch a premium price on the market as they resembles to local birds.
The farmers were trained on how to go for poultry farming and various managemental practices involved in raising the birds from brooding to marketing along with disease management. Later, 54 farmers were distributed with day old chicks of rainbow rooster and poultry.
