Training on handicraft

A week-long training on banana fibre extraction and handicraft products development commenced Tuesday at Yikhum Community Hall and Old Riphyim Federation Office, Wokha. The primary objective of the training was to empower women and young people by providing them with practical skills in banana fibre extraction and the development of handicraft products.

By training the trainees through hands-on training sessions and interactive workshops, the week-long program aims to encourage entrepreneurship and facilitate sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in the region. It also aims not only to foster skill development but also seeks to promote the preservation of traditional crafts and indigenous knowledge.

Altogether, 50 youths from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and villages are undertaking the training in two batches.
The training was jointly organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Wokha, and Shiahoi Oshom-ETF Cell Wokha with The Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur, and Englan Yingsung Women Livelihood Thrift & Credit Cooperation Society Ltd. as partners.
