Video on blood donation released

A video urging general public to voluntarily donate blood was released during a programme at Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW), Kohima.
Concept for the video was made by Voluntary Blood Donors Association HQ Kohima (VBDAK) while the same was produced by Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council (NSBTC).
In a short remark during the release, principal director DHFW, Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton, highlighted the importance of blood and donors. He said blood was very precious and there was no substitute for it and that only blood could be replaced by blood.

He hoped that the short video would create an impact for the people and encourage more people to step forward and be blood donors.
Citing that he had already donated thrice, Dr. Patton said when a person donates blood it is used in saving someone else’s life.
He encouraged people not to be scared and come forward and also create an awareness among themselves, friends and family members.
In a short remark, director NSBTC, Dr. Khriezoutuo Paphino, said the council had been encouraging blood donations for years now.

He said the idea to spread the message was conceived by NVBDA and therefore considering that it was a novel idea, the council vouched in to sponsor 80% of the cost while the remaining 20% will be managed by the association. He cited that while Nagas claim to be brave warriors, many are scared of donating blood. In this regard, he urged the people to come forward and join in the movement.
In a short remark, chairman VBDAK, Bendang Imsong, expressed happiness that the concerned department for such an initiative had come forward willingly to be part of the movement. Apart from the video, he informed that the general public could also download the android application provided in the video to register either as a donor or recipient. He assured that the association would continue to make more efforts to promote voluntary blood donation and also organise such drives as well.
In a note of gratitude, project director NSACS, Dr. Ahu Sekhose, thanked the association on behalf of the medical department. He referred to them as ‘real activists’ in the movement and lauded them for coming out of their comfort zone to help others who were in need of blood.
He expressed his appreciation and hoped the association would continue to help the people through their initiatives.
The launching programme was chaired by executive member VBDAK, Burakum. The short video starring Dreamz Unlimited team can now be streamed on YouTube.
