As part of academic and extracurricular activities, various programmes and activities were organised by educational institutions and other organisations for the student community and faculties.
Programmes were also organised to felicitate the successful candidates for the High School Leaving Certificate (HLSC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) 2024 examinations.
Wokha: Wokha district administration on May 10 felicitated the four HSLC toppers from Wokha district at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha office chamber.
The toppers, namely Nchumbemo Lotha (Rank 7) from Isaiah Higher Secondary School, Ruth Y Lotha (Rank 14) and Meriyani C Humtsoe (Rank17) and Zaren Taslim Khandakar (Rank17), all from Libemo Memorial School, were felicitated.
Interacting with the toppers, DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, emphasised the importance of both academic excellence and personal development.
He encouraged students to have an optimistic approach while facing life’s challenges, while reminding them that learning and education are a lifelong process. Encouraging the students to pursue their passion, Ranjan urged them to remain authentic and true to themselves and not fall for societal pressure. He stressed the importance of being true to self and following the righteous path while making best efforts, regardless of outcomes.
SDO (Civil) Wokha, Nuhuta Tunyi, while congratulating the students, attributed their success to the collaborative efforts of parents, schools, and the students themselves.
Expressing gratitude to the educational institutions for their role in nurturing and guiding the students, Tunyi encouraged the toppers to make wise choices for their future endeavours.
CEDOK: Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK) felicitated NBSE rank holders from Catholic Schools and Catholic Schools with 100 % pass result on May 11 at Holy Cross.
During the programme, 34 Rank holders (22 HSLC and 12 HSSLC) and 17 schools (8 HSLC & 9 HSSLC) were felicitated.
Speaking at the programme as the special guest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Dr. Tinojungshi Chang, appreciated the catholic schools for the educational growth of the state and thanked the torch bearers, namely, the fathers, sisters and teachers for their sacrifices in moulding the students which plays a major role in the students’ achievements.
Chang advised the students dedicate and focus on their goals and not divert from their goals even though they may face a lot of hurdles. He encouraged them to face those hurdles as a stepping stone and take it as a challenge.
In his presidential address, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, appreciated the students for their hard work and the teachers who worked with full dedication and the schools which gave the right ambience, which brought success to them. He appreciated the students for their determination and perseverance.
Bishop challenged the students to be catalyst of positive change in the society. He encouraged them to live the moral values and discipline they learned in the school and become beacons of light for the society.
GSUCD: Gorkha Students’ Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) held a felicitation programme for the successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC 2024 examinations from Gorkha community on May 12 at Singrijan Village Council Hall. Altogether, 93 Gorkha students including toppers of the Gorkha community of Nagaland. The guest of honour, special invitee and special guest were Sr. Inspector Statistics, Botovi Jim, head GB Singrijan and Khopanala, Tezu Pardhan, and media and publicity secretary Gorkhaland State Demand National Committee (GSDNC) Darjeeling, Deepak Chettri, respectively.
