The Mokokchung Municipal Council and various Town Councils elected the chairmen and deputy chairmen, while oath of affirmation was also conducted for the elected members.
Mokokchung: The newly elected members of Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) unanimously elected Imkongchuba as Chairman and Lanuakum as Deputy Chairman to the Mokokchung Municipal Council.
For Mangkolemba Town Council, Supongtsungba and A. Meren Walling were elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively. Purtoshi and Alemchuba were elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively for Tuli Town Council. The programme was held on Saturday at DC Conference Hall, Mokokchung.
Nuiland: In the recent concluded ULB election to the Nuiland Town Council, out of 9 wards the BJP won 6 and independent candidate won 3 seats. The Deputy Commissioner, Niuland Sarah S. Jamir administered the oath to the newly elected Town Council Members on July 4, at DC Conference hall, Niuland.
The member unanimously elected Kakheka Zhimomi as the Chairman and Visheli Zhimo as the Vice Chairman to the Niuland Town Council. Phek: Oath taking ceremony of the eleven newly elected Members of Phek Town Council was held at DPDB Hall, Phek on July 6. The ADC & RO, Ruopfukuotuo Nuodi and SDO (c) & ARO, Tsenthungo E. Ngullie administered the oath of affirmation to the newly elected members of Phek Town Council.
Bhandari: Khonthungia Odyuo was elected as the Chairperson of the Bhandari Town Council (BTC) in a meeting of the newly elected members convened at the conference hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Furhesie Nyuwi, in a swearing in ceremony administered the Oath of affirmation to the elected members in accordance with Section 60A of the Nagaland Municipal Act. 2023.
After the Oath of Affirmation by the members, the Deputy Commissioner presided over the election of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson for the Town Council as per Section 12 (3) and 23 of the Nagaland Municipal Act. 2023, in the presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, ULB Election, Bhandari, Longdiba L.Sangtam and MLA 40th A/C Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon.
Khonthungia Odyuo and T. Likao Odyuo, both from NPF party were elected as the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively with 2/3 majority support.
Chozuba: The newly elected members of the Chozuba Town Council took oath of affirmation at a ceremony held at the ADC office, Chozuba under Phek district on Saturday. ADC Chozuba & RO, Dr. Daina Patton administered the oath of affirmation to the newly elected councilors of the nine wards. Chozuba Town Council (CTC) will be led by Sevonyi Keyho as Chairman and Vezota Rhakho as Deputy-chairman.
Speaking at the program, Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, congratulated all the elected members of the wards for being the people’s mandate and called upon the councillors to work as responsible leaders for the upliftment of the town.
The Advisor urged the councilors to work as responsible leaders for the betterment of the people and society stating that there’s a huge expectation on them by the public.
